breast cancer?
Hello. I’m 22 years old and have recently found a small bump on my left breast. I showed it to the doctor and she sent me for an ultra sound. Well, during the ultrasound the lady was having a hard time finding the bump but then was like” Ohh..there it is” and took pictures. Anyway, she sent them to whereever they had to go and my ObGYN called me back and said everything was negative…but to come back in 3 months to get it checked out again. (she said it might be a cyst from stopping the pill and should go away, but it hasnt went away in a month so far). Im just really nervous that they missed it and something is wrong….would you get a second opinion or just wait out the three months until I go again (June). Also, is cancer common in someone at my age? Thanks
It is common in young woman. I myself was diagnosed last June at the age of 27 with Stage 2 breast cancer. Everyone at first thought it was a cyst or a benign tumor.
I would defiantly go for a second opinion, don’t wait until June. Go see a breast surgeon. Insist on having a biopsy done. I had a mammogram and an ultrasound, all signs pointed to normal, young woman dense breast, blah blah blah.
I had a lumpectomy in July followed by 8 rounds of vigorous chemotherapy. There was still some precancer cells remained so, i opted for a double mastectomy in February.
Please don’t wait, don’t put this off. It’s not worth it.
Good luck!
